Recovery Advocates North East
21st April 2016
This is a not for profit organisation that, with the help of our staff members volunteers & partners, are trying to bring people who have been touched by addiction together in the North East. Whether you are a family member, someone in recovery or you have been affected by the impact of social decline in YOUR community, Recovery Advocacy North East can help.
In our experience recovery does not happen in isolation but happens in communities with the help support & guidance of others. People do change & can go on to lead healthy productive, meaningful lives, helping build recovery capital for the individual is fundamental to this process & we believe most disadvantaged people have skills, talents, experiences & core beliefs to enable them to explore & grow as people.
RANE is a community recovery focused organisation, led by people with lived experience of addictions, deprivation treatment and abstinence based recovery. And, over the past 15 years, we have gathered a broad range of skills and experience while working for treatment/recovery, housing, carers & homeless services.
We believe that addiction is a mental, physical, emotional and spiritual problem, where the affected person has little control over their addictive behaviour. And that care, compassion and understanding is most effective way to treat it.
We provide a user-led advocacy and education services on behalf of people suffering from addictions, homelessness, offending or mental health.
We are PRO active community recovery supporters; we must be open to a whole range of advocacy initiatives including promoting or initiating mutual aid groups or meetings to encourage peer led visible recovery in communities.
Our intention is to work WITH current providers to educate & include them in the new UK recovery movement.
We provide one on one advocacy support as well as mutual aid group support, young people’s education, we are food bank referrers, provide education for professionals, consultancy & have a broad range of community contacts & partners.
