CU Social Enterprise CIC
19th July 2017
Our mission is to help people and communities realise their entrepreneurial potential. CU Social Enterprise (CUSE) CIC, set up in 2013 by Coventry University is the first Social Enterprise (SE) created by a University to support the creation and development of social enterprises by University staff and students and to support the growth of a wider social economy.
CUSE as an Enterprise Hub provides a suite of services – including training and capacity building courses focused on social entrepreneurship, mentoring, coordination of support networks and provision of new tools for learning.
The headline impacts in 16/17 are:
- Over 7,000 engagements with staff, students and the wider community through a year round wide ranging programme of talks, lectures, training, 1-2-1 advice and workshops.
- The creation of 11 social enterprises.
- Support to a growing cohort of 47 social enterprises in our own network.
- £50k grant programme for an annual social impact challenge and a proof of concept scheme
In June 2017 CUSE became a Qualifi Approved Learning Centre - an Ofqual recognised awarding organisation allowing CUSE SE qualifications to become a pathway to progression to a degree.
