Crest Co-operative operates reuse businesses, which provide work opportunities for people in North Wales.
The social enterprise has four shops, selling furniture, home electricals and high-street branded clothing for all the family:
Crest Community Store, Ferry Farm Road, Llandudno Junction
Crest Community Store, Mostyn Broadway, Llandudno
Crest Furniture Reclaim, Douglas Road, Colwyn Bay
Crest Community Hub, Ffordd Las, Llandudno
Crest Co-operative runs an Electrical Reuse Hub, where electricals are refurbished, tested and sold to the community at low prices.
Crest Co-operative collects kerbside textiles, electricals and bulky waste on behalf of the local authority. A spokesperson for Conwy County Borough Council said: “Through our work with Crest Co-operative, we have not only seen how reducing waste and recycling more can improve the environment, but we have also seen how recycling can create opportunities and develop skills within the community.”
Crest Co-operative won a Big Society Award in 2012. Prime Minister David Cameron said: “Crest has an innovative and compassionate approach to tackling a range of social problems through one enterprise."
Crest Co-operative has worked with housing association Cartrefi Conwy for more than 5 years. In 2015 the partnership led to the creation of a new community interest company - Creating Enterprise.
