Company description

Bore Place is an organic dairy farm & study centre, combining education programmes with social enterprise, to work towards a more just & sustainable world. We are based in 500 acres of beautiful, organic farmland, near Sevenoaks in Kent.
Our dairy farm produces delicious organic milk which is sold via the organic cooperative Omsco;
our residential conference study centre offers inspiring space for professional & personal development. Used for events, meetings, seminars and workshops, it is also a delightful venue for short stays, social functions & weddings;
we run hands-on education programmes for schools, FE/HE & community groups on organic & sustainable food & farming, sustainable development, global citizenship & we run vocational & therapeutic programmes for young people.

Track record

Founded in 1976, we base our work at our farm and centre working with 10,000 people each year who come to Bore Place. We link with many other organisations & individuals in inner city, urban and rural settings in the UK and internationally. These include others in the fields of:
new economics; organic food, farming and growing; education; environment; mental health; sustainable development; global citizenship & social enterprise.
We are a Soil Association Demonstration Farm, an OMSCo Demonstration Farm & our accommodation is Gold awarded by Green Tourism.
Some organisations we have linked or who have stayed here: London South Bank University, The Clore Leadership Programme; Forum for the Future; New Economics Foundation; Consortium of Development Education Centres & the NCVO.

Social purpose

Vision
Our vision is of a fairer world, in which people collaborate with each other and with nature everywhere, recognising that all are interconnected.
Mission
We work towards this vision in two main ways:
firstly by exploring in practice how to work co-operatively and how to use our land, resources, and abilities so that they are enhanced rather than depleted, for the health and benefit of all;
and secondly by sharing this process with others, both in order to learn from each other, and also by enabling them through hands-on experience to take forward the vision in their own work.
We recognise that sustainable development encompasses social, political and economic dimensions as well as environmental, and that change comes about through relationship.
