Blue Parakeet CIC provides coaching for women returning to work after maternity leave or a career break; workshops for women on increasing self-confidence and setting career goals; training for businesses in equality and diversity, and business consultancy around increasing gender equality in the workplace.
I have a private client list of over a hundred women who I coach face-to-face in Plymouth and the travel-to-work area, by telephone nationally (including a group of women writers in London), and internationally by e-mail (including a client in Iceland). I have coached women working in the Home Office and Plymouth University, have provided equality and diversity training to a range of clients in the South West (described as "the best training I have ever attended") in the health and social care sector and the voluntary sector and am currently working with Devon and Cornwall Police on their gender and BME representation and as a coach. ("Coaching with Jo has not only helped me become a better leader, but a better husband and father too").
Blue Parakeet CIC aims to address some of the causes of the gender pay gap by providing coaching to women making decisions about their careers and work while they combine these with being a parent. This includes women having a first child, subsequent child, when their circumstances change (e.g. through the breakdown of a relationship, or developing a disability), or when their children leave home. Decisions made at this time can have a life-long effect on the earning potential of women, but these are often times when expenditure has to be prioritised and coaching to help make informed decisions is unaffordable. Blue Parakeet CIC offers low-cost and no-cost coaching to women in these circumstances.
